Resort Automation Excellence | Westin Maui Case Study
Pacific Audio & Communications partnered with Trinity Investment Group to engineer a unified, high-performance technology ecosystem for the reimagined social and entertainment spaces at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa.
Elevating the Guest Experience at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa
Luxury hospitality spaces demand a seamless transition between high-energy entertainment and sophisticated relaxation. For the extensive multi-activity social venue within The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Pacific Audio & Communications engineered an integrated, property-wide technology architecture. This expansive environment encompasses a premium arcade, a state-of-the-art golf simulator area, bowling lanes, a central bar, a retail redemption store, and the dedicated Keiki Club.
The primary objective was twofold: deliver absolute sensory immersion for guests while ensuring effortless operational management for the resort staff. By harmonizing architectural design with advanced technology, PAC created an atmosphere where high-performance audio and vibrant visual elements enhance guest engagement. This custom-engineered solution supports a lively, continuous social atmosphere and optimizes property performance without placing administrative strain on day-to-day resort operations.
Technical Architecture Breakdown
PAC executed a comprehensive technical deployment across all entertainment zones. We used specialized commercial infrastructure designed to withstand high-traffic hospitality environments.
- Distributed Multi-Zone Audio: The arcade, golf simulator, bowling lanes, bar, and redemption store operate as independent or fully combined audio zones. Leveraging high-performance acoustic design, the system isolates high-impact gaming sound effects from the refined acoustic profile of the bar and dining areas.
- Commercial Display Integration: We strategically deployed high-brightness commercial Sony displays behind the central bar, throughout the bowling zone, and inside the Keiki Club. These displays feature advanced anti-glare screen technology specifically designed to counter the intense natural coastal lighting characteristic of West Maui's open-air architecture.
- Centralized AV Control System: We simplified operations via an enterprise-grade platform powered by Crestron. Intuitive touchscreen interfaces positioned behind the bar and in the Keiki Club allow non-technical resort personnel to execute rapid source switching and global volume adjustments instantly.
- Centralized Equipment Infrastructure: All routing, processing, and amplification hardware is consolidated into a secure, centralized equipment rack. This clean architectural approach removes visible electronic components from guest-facing areas, preserves the resort’s upscale aesthetic, and provides a scalable foundation for future technology upgrades.
- Remote Monitoring & Power Management: To guarantee maximum uptime, the venue utilizes an intelligent IP-controlled power management infrastructure. This setup adheres strictly to enterprise-grade resort data network security standards, allowing for proactive off-site diagnostics and automated power cycling.
The Hospitality Performance Outcome
The completed integration delivers an unparalleled guest experience while optimizing operational efficiency for The Westin Maui Resort & Spa. Through tailored UI/UX design, resort staff can focus entirely on guest hospitality rather than managing complex AV components. From initial design collaboration with out-of-state investment stakeholders like Trinity Investment Group to local ongoing support, PAC ensures long-term system reliability.

FAQs
Multi-zone resort spaces require independent volume and source controls across distinct areas to prevent audio bleed between high-energy zones like bowling alleys and quieter dining spaces. Additionally, displays must feature commercial-grade brightness levels to maintain visibility against intense Hawaiian natural light..
Commercial-grade Sony displays are engineered for continuous 24/7 operational uptime and feature specialized anti-glare coatings essential for bright, sunlit resort environments. They also provide native compatibility with enterprise control systems, offer longer lifespans and better warranties than residential alternatives.
These systems allow certified integrators to remotely monitor equipment status, perform diagnostics, and power-cycle responsive devices over a secure network. Disruptions or system anomalies are frequently identified and corrected offsite before hotel staff or resort guests experience any operational impact.
The ideal method involves routing all media inputs through a centralized matrix switcher. This allows independent gaming audio and video signals to remain localized to the simulator and bowling bays while giving management the flexibility to broadcast property-wide media during special events.
To protect against Hawaii's humidity and salt air, PAC keeps all essential processing equipment inside climate-controlled, secured technology rooms. Any components that must be exposed to the elements are built with weather-resistant materials suited for Hawaiian conditions.
